GY6 Air Performance Upgrade - Level 1

The key to more power in a combustion engine is managing the air flow. The more air/fuel flowing through your system, the more power your engine can generate.

In most stock mini-buggies and scooters the stock air intakes and mufflers are restricting air flow. This leads to significantly less power than the motor is capable of. You can change this by using a UNI Filter and velocity stack to increase your vehicle's performance. This easy modification improves the airflow greatly over the stock air intake box. After installing the components in this product, the carburetor must be tuned to ensure the proper air/fuel mixture.

When removing the stock air box, it is recommended that you use a Velocity Stack Intake (sometimes called a "Redneck Intake"), which is an approximately 6" extension tube that attaches to the Carburetor with your UNI Filter at the other end. This will allow the velocity stack to mount to where the stock airbox did, and your UNI air filter to clear that engine crossbeam.

The velocity stack on this product will attach to a stock 24mm carburetor on a GY6 buggy or scooter, or any carburetor that has a 1.5" diameter opening on the air intake side. It will NOT fit a 2" air intake opening carburetor like our 30mm or 32mm carbs.

If you have a 30mm or 32mm carburetor, please consider the 250cc Level 1 Air Performance package with the intake elbow option. That package will work perfectly with the larger carburetors when used with a GY6 engine.

This kit comes complete with the velocity stack, a 4" long 2-stage UNI filter with 2" opening, and sizes 125 & 130 main jets! (Note: This velocity stack uses a 2" opening UNI filter.)

When adding this modification, you will need to rejet your carburetor to re-balance the fuel/air mixture due to the increased airflow. What size jet you need to upgrade to will depend on the local elevation and the season (outside temperature) that you will be riding in.

Generally speaking, with just the UNI filter upgrade, you'll need a jet somewhere between 125 and 130. For elevations below 2500', use the included 130 main jet. Use the 125 main jet above 2500' elevation. If you are above 5,000', please let us know and we will include more appropriate jets for your location. Feel free to call Buggy Parts NW if you have questions. For lower elevations, you might consider using a pilot jet size 38 (up from the stock 35 in a 24mm carb). Higher elevations will not need the pilot jet changed for this mod.

Note: This air filter MUST be oiled with foam filter oil and cleaned regularly. A properly oiled filter prevents dust particles and debris from getting into the carburetor and your engine. This is essential for proper operation and engine longevity. You WILL eventually destroy your engine if this filter is not oiled with the proper product. Unfortunately, we cannot ship the UNI filter oil or cleaner Internationally.

This kit will mount as-is to most 125cc and 150cc GY6-based engines.

When using this product with the AutoMoto trike, you will need to purchase a 1-1/4" ID coupler piece from a hardware store to properly attach and mount the velocity stack. This is because of the AutoMoto's unique internal design.
